- Angles, Shots, Movements
- The camera is commonly left lingering on through pans or tracking shots to create a droning, suspenseful feeling
- Eye-level shots allowing eye contact between audience and character increase tension
- Over the shoulder shots of one character pan into the face of another behind them to show a shocking, or unexpected reaction
- Low angles are used when characters are yelling to make them seem more powerful
- Mis-En-Scene
- This film revolves largely around a single setting, a mansion, where all of the characters are in; this allows all of the characters to interact and bounce off eachother to create a more intriguing plot.
- Acting also plays a large role because it acts as a vehicle for the dialogue, which is necessary for building a mystery and solving the mystery
- Makeup/costume are used to create that fufill a certain niche for example mean, money hungry older relatives who wear sharp fashion and minimul makeup. These niche characters are all different forces that interact with eachother throughout the film.
- Sound
- The film uses a lot of non-diegetic sound, like hoarse violens, to increase the tension in a scene when an unexpected fact is revealed
- Dialogue is heavily relied on this movie as it conveys the facts necessary to create a mystery, and the dialogue between characters is used to slowly reveal and unsolve it.
- Editing
- Jump cuts are heavily used to keep momentum going through a scene where large events are happening, for example when a will in this movie reveals all property goes to a single character, jump cuts are used to showcase everyones reactions, creating a fast past that makes the scenes fast paced and tense.
- Mystery Elements Used
- Costumes and makeup are used to effectively convey to the audience what role a character will play in the grand scheme of the mystery and what their intentions might be
- Tracking shots are used during chaotic scenes to exemplify the messiness of the situation
- Over the shoulders often portray a blurred figure behind a character, adding an element of mystery
- Elements That Did Not Appeal
- Although the movie did use makeup/costume, for the most part, effectively a lot of the characters can be seen as stereotypes, for example, a stuck up and snobby elder who only cares about money.
